Utilize Profile Codes Sometimes when you meet a friend in person, you want to exchange social media information quickly and efficiently. Messenger Codes helps you to quickly connect with a friend over the app, using a unique marker for each user. Just pull out your Messenger camera and press and hold over a friend's Messenger Code to connect instantly. You can show your Messenger code for your friends to scan by tapping on your profile photo and then tapping on the largely sized icon at the top surrounded by blue lines and circles. Two options will be presented when you do that: “My Code” and “Scan Code.” The “My Code” feature is selected by default for your friends to scan. And the “Scan Code” feature lets you scan the Messenger Codes of your friends.

Remove Previews For Privacy Reasons If you have notifications turned on for Messenger, then you may want to consider removing the previews for your conversations. This would prevent people from seeing a snippet of your conversation from the notification center of your devices. You can turn off previews by tapping on your profile icon and then toggling off “Show Previews” under “Notifications.”

Create “Day” Stories In March 2017, Messenger added the ability to share your Day. This feature is similar to Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories. Messenger Day allows you to share photos and videos of some noteworthy events that took place throughout your day. The photos and videos will appear in Messenger for 24 hours and you can see who viewed it. You can also add selfie filters, text and other fun effects to the Day stories. To set up a Day Story, tap on the “My Day” button under the “Messages” section of the Home tab. Or you can start adding to your Day by tapping on the photo icon at the bottom of the Home screen.

Play the hidden basketball game on Facebook Messenger The latest version of Facebook Messenger has a cool new feature that allows you to play a game of basketball during a chat. Don't worry, you don't have to concern yourself with selecting the perfect filter or best angle; all of these messages disappear after 24 hours. Send or view a location with Facebook Messenger If you want a super easy way to let your friends know where you are Facebook, all you need to do is send a message. As long as you have "location" enabled in your settings, they will be able to see where you are. Similarly, if your friend has it enabled, simply tap on a message to bring up the location from which it was sent. If you don't want to share your location at all, head to your settings and uncheck that "location" box. Send Your Current Location While you are talking to a friend, you can send your current location. This feature is especially useful if you are meeting with that friend somewhere and you want to make it easier for them to know when you will be arriving. You can use this feature by tapping on the + sign and then by tapping on “Location.” Then tap on “Share Live Location for 60 min.” to share your location for an hour.

Send a big thumbs up with Facebook Messenger If you're feeling a little like Miley Cyrus and have a need for a particularly big thumbs up, then just press and hold the Like button to inflate the size of your thumb. If a simple Like won't do the trick then hit that little emoji button at the end of the text entry field, hit your sticker collection or revert to your device's emoji supported keyboard for a bit more expressive flair.

Make a voice call in Facebook Messenger Did you know that Facebook Messenger allows you to make free calls? Well, you probably did. But are you taking advantage of it? Simply tap on the call button (highlighted below) in one of your conversation windows and you will begin calling the person in that conversation.  Send a picture with Facebook Messenger Did you know you can take a photo directly from the keyboard in Messenger? See that little camera icon? Tap that to turn your keyboard space into a mini viewfinder (which you can also expand). You can switch between the front or back mounted cameras and snap a quick pic with the vertical send button rather oddly placed right in the middle of the viewfinder. Tap the little image icon next to the camera to choose from previously taken pics.

Start an Encrypted Secret Conversation In 2016, Facebook rolled out one-to-one encrypted communications via Facebook Messenger, AKA "Secret Conversations." Here it is using the Signal Protocol, which is specifically designed for just you and one other person. First, you will need to enable Secret Conversations on your device (it can only be active on one device at a time). After this, hit the chat head icon on the top right, scroll to Secret Conversations, and toggle it on. Once you've done this, open a chat with any of your contacts and click on the little "i" icon in the top-right corner. After this, just select "Secret Conversation." As a timely reminder, the Secret Conversation mode is not to everyone's taste as end-to-end encryption breaks some features in Messenger, like using it across multiple devices, archiving past conversations, and sending things like animated GIFs.

Adjust The Size Of Emoji Emoji do a great job of conveying emotions. What’s better than sending an emoji is sending a larger-sized emoji. You can make emoji larger by pushing down the icon. You will notice that the emoji will increase in size, but it will burst if it gets too large. Once you release your finger on the emoji, it will be sent.

Send Voice Clips Through Messenger You can send voice clips through Messenger by tapping tap the microphone at the bottom of the screen. Tap the Record button and then tap and hold again to record your audio. To finish and send the voice clip, remove your finger from the Record button. To cancel your clip and not send it at all, drag your finger off the Record button.

Mute Notifications From Busy Messenger Conversations To mute notifications for a given conversation, push down on the name of the conversation from the Home screen. This will show you a drop-down screen of options. Tap "Mute" and then select the period of time during which you do not want to be notified of activity in that particular conversation. You can mute notifications for 15 minutes, 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours or until you turn notifications back on.

Mention A Friend In A Group Message If you need to get a quick response from someone in a group message, then just type the “@” sign and select their name. They will receive a special notification calling their attention to the message. That way, it is easy to jump right back into the conversation to answer someone’s question or to provide a response.

Send Animated GIFs Through Messenger Sometimes adding an animated GIF to a conversation makes it more entertaining. There is an option to add an animated GIF through Messenger by tapping on the + button and scrolling over to the "GIFs" button on the top menu. From there, you can select from trending GIFs or search for a GIF in the search box as you scroll horizontally. Then tap on the GIF that you want to send. Send a GIF in Facebook Messenger For a while now Facebook Messenger has had a dedicated GIF button in the Facebook Messenger app, which allows you to use images from outlets like Giphy and Riffsy.     - Open a Facebook Messenger chat and tap the GIF icon.     - Scroll through the GIFs and tap twice on the image you want to send.     - The GIF will appear in the chat and automatically play on a loop.

Send Money Using Messenger One of the many things you can now do with Facebook Messenger is send money via the app. First thing's first, you'll need to set things up. To add a card to Facebook Messenger, select your Facebook icon on the top of the app. Then go Payments > Add New Debit Card. After this, you're ready to go.
